I am currently an Acting Deputy Headteacher at Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi in Ceredigion, having started this role in September 2024. Prior to this I was an Assistant Headteacher at Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron from 2020. My current responsibilities include leading on Safeguarding, Pastoral care, Curriculum and MAT provision, and I am also a senior PGCE mentor and NQT induction mentor. I started my career as a Chemistry teacher, and am passionate about promoting careers in STEM, especially Chemistry-based subjects. I have had previous roles as a KS2-KS3 progress leader and Head of Science, and therefore have a varied range of leadership experiences.
The area I am most passionate about is ensuring that all practitioners have equitable access to high-quality professional learning opportunities. I was previously a member of the NPLE practitioner reference group in collaboration with Welsh Government, and I am currently a core member of the National Endorsement Panel, chaired by Professor Ken Jones. I have a keen interest in educational research, and I am just about to start the final year of a National MA Education (Wales) degree, following the Leadership Pathway. Associated with this I am a member of the British Association of Educational Research (BERA) and the International Professional Development Association (IPDA). My professional goals for this year include applying to start the NPQH as the next step in my professional development as a senior leader
