Owain Gethin Davies is Headteacher of Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy a secondary school of over 650 pupils located in the town of Llanrwst, North Wales. Owain Gethin has been teaching since 2002 and has vast experience as a Music teacher. Owain Gethin was Deputy Headteacher at Ysgol y Creuddyn from 2016 prior to becoming Headteacher in 2020 in Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy.
Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy were fortunate to be part of the initial Pioneer school lead programme when the vision for the new curriculum was launched back in 2015. Owain Gethin has worked extensively at both local consortia and national level to gauge the professional learning requirements needed to assist with the curriculum reform. He has also worked with colleagues in Welsh Government on the Talk Pedagogy project and with the National Resource: Evaluation and Improvement, the NPQH working group and the steering group for the Learner effectiveness project.
As an Associate, Owain Gethin is looking forward to collaborating with leaders from across Wales to build strong school to school relationships with a focus on developing system leadership.
In addition to his headteacher and Associate roles, Owain Gethin is also the Chair for the Adnodd board and is keen to support the development of bilingual high-quality resources for schools and colleges across Wales to provide further enriching experiences to the young people of Wales.
Owain Gethin is also the Musical Director for Côr Meibion Colwyn. He enjoys travelling and keeping fit. Outside of school Owain Gethin enjoys walking his dog ‘Winston’ and raising money for local charities through numerous fitness challenges.
