Lorraine Dalton is Headteacher of Ysgol Bryn Gwalia in Mold, Flintshire. Before this Lorraine was Deputy Head teacher at Ysgol Esgob Morgan in St Asaph and whilst teaching here in 2018 she won the Welsh Government Teacher of the Year Award. Lorraine has been a Headteacher since January 2021 and has also been a Peer Inspector for Estyn for many years. She aims to lead by example, and this was noted by in the schools last visit from Estyn where they described Lorriane as a ‘compassionate and caring’ leader.
Lorraine also mentors new headteachers and she values that role very much. She enjoys seeing staff develop professionally and encourages them to do so at every opportunity. Lorraine also likes to encourage her pupils to become ‘Social Change Makers’ within the community and to influence others.
Lorraine lives in St Asaph with my husband and three daughters. She loves walking, reading and travelling. She is looking forward to having the opportunity to network with the other sectors involved in the National Academy for Educational Leadership throughout the next two years.
