Dr Dale Duddridge

Dr Dale Duddridge is currently Deputy Headteacher at Maesteg School where he has specific responsibility for Curriculum and Teaching and Learning. He started his career as an English teacher in a large secondary school in Worcestershire where he went on to become an Advanced Skills Teacher and Head of English. He was always keen to return to Wales to a school serving a valley community, having attended this type of school as a pupil himself. He joined Maesteg School in 2014 as an Assistant Headteacher and enjoys being part of a committed and passionate team of practitioners. The school’s motto (‘Motivated to Strive’) underpins all aspects of the school’s ethos with pupils and teachers always ambitious for the very best experience within education. Alongside working in partnership with schools within Bridgend and across the South Wales Partnership, he is also a member of the Welsh Government Policy group. He regards these as being invaluable ways of supporting the sharing of ideas and is always on the look out for ways of utilising a marginal gains approach to school improvement. 

Dale is thrilled to be an Associate as he believes that leadership underpins all aspects of school life and exploring it can improve the way in which all individuals within a school (including pupils) perform their role effectively and with enjoyment. By strengthening leadership at all levels and across systems, Dale is confident that Wales can achieve the high ambitions it has set for itself and so become a world leader in education. He is passionate about professional learning and enjoys supporting other colleagues in meeting their own leadership aspirations. Dale is an avid reader, often with three books on the go at any one time, and enjoys all types of theatre and concerts. Dale also makes the most of any opportunity to travel and will rarely be found in the country during any school break.
