Matthew Dunn

Associate

Matthew Dunn trained as an English teacher in 2004 before going on to become a Head of English. He is currently Deputy Headteacher at St Richard Gwyn School in Barry having been a Senior Leader for over ten years. In that time he has taken on a number of responsibilities focusing on the Curriculum and Teaching and Learning as well as working with the more able and talented. He enjoys working in partnership with other schools, with Post-16 provision when working in Bridgend, and as part of the Inter State School Partnership with Wellington College; a link that he established in his current and previous school. He completed his NPQH qualification in 2021.

Matthew became an Associate because of the amazing opportunities to learn. He recognises that, for young people to become ethical and informed, ambitious and capable, enterprising and healthy individuals, the Welsh Education system must have successful leadership at all levels. Matthew is passionate about professional learning and giving pupils in Wales the best opportunities possible. Matthew was born in Spain, spent his university summers in America teaching sport and a year teaching English as a foreign language in South East Asia. He briefly worked in publishing before starting his PGCE. He met his wife at university and is based in Cardiff with his three children.
