Anna Griggs

Associate

Anna Griggs is headteacher at Buttington Trewern County Primary School in Powys, on the Shropshire border. Her school’s motto is “Living and Learning. Darganfod a Dysgu” which promotes lifelong learning.  

Qualifying in 2002, Anna became a Deputy Head in Shropshire in 2009 where she worked as cluster lead and a Local Authority Curriculum moderator. She was also seconded to lead a teacher training programme with Edge Hill University. 

Receiving a rich education as a pupil in Powys Anna wanted to return to develop high-quality education for the next generation so started her first, small school headship in Powys in 2017 before moving to her current school in 2022.  

Anna is passionate about A Curriculum for Wales and developing lifelong learning through rich and relevant contexts so that everyone can achieve their very best. At system level, Anna knows that growing leaders at all levels and developing effective school to school support is essential for a truly successful Curriculum for Wales. 

As an outward facing senior leader, with Anna’s aspiration as an Associate of the National Academy for Educational Leadership is to work with global leaders and to develop outstanding leadership across Wales through highly effective collaboration. 

 Outside of school Anna enjoys mountain biking and playing a range of sports such as hockey and rounders. Summers are spent travelling with her partner Andy.
