Mark Isherwood works closely with the Academy Associates and Leadership Academy team to lead the work on Endorsement and Quality Assurance, Stakeholder Engagement and System Leadership Development. His aspirations for the future of the Leadership Academy include working with stakeholders across the education system in Wales to improve the quality, range, and accessibility of leadership provision. He also wants to foster the conditions needed to inspire leaders that enrich the lives of children and young people across Wales.
Mark began his career as a PE teacher in Swansea before moving on to work as Academy Manager with Wales Rugby League. He has held positions with SportTrain, Welsh Government, Merthyr Local Authority and Adult Learning Wales. Most recently he was ITE Accreditation Manager with the Education Workforce Council. He has experience as an Estyn Peer and Additional Inspector and was previously Deputy Chair Governors at Sully Primary School.
Mark is married to Hannah a Primary school teacher and has three daughters Mary, Annie and Josie. He likes to keep active and healthy, and spends his time running, playing touch rugby, surfing and walking his two dogs; Woody the pug and Alfie the red setter.
