Meleri Light

Meleri joined the National Academy for Educational Leadership in September 2023 after working for eighteen years in secondary schools teaching Welsh as a First Language and Welsh as a Second Language. She was responsible for leading whole school literacy in a Welsh medium secondary school before going on to become Head of the Welsh Language Department at that school. She mentored students and newly qualified teachers at the school, offering training and guidance to the students with a focus on the Welsh language and on improving the language.

Meleri worked as a Tutor with the Open University supporting students and teachers in training and contributing to the University’s quality assurance process. She was part of the ‘Carlam Cymru’ project by E-sgol providing and offering revision sessions for GCSE and A Level Welsh learners.

Meleri is married to Rob and they have three children, Noa, Cara and Steffan.

On the weekends she enjoys walking, reading and keeping busy with the children’s activities!
