Ian Gerrard is headteacher of Ysgol Aberconwy in Conwy. Previously, Ian was Deputy Headteacher of Ysgol Eirias in Colwyn Way between 2008 and 2014.
Ian has worked with colleagues at Welsh Government on the Counselling Research Study Steering Group and the creation of case studies focusing on Professional Learning, Continuity of Learning and Distance Learning.
As an Associate Ian has acted as the Associate Lead for Well-being. In this role he was instrumental in the publication of the Leadership Academy’s Well-being of School Leaders: National Survey, and plays an active role in Head-To-Head, the Leadership Academy’s weekly well-being space for headteachers. Ian has also shared his insights and work on well-being with colleagues in Ireland and Scotland in the first International Blether in November 2020. Currently, Ian is developing the commission report with his fellow Associates in cohort 2 and enjoyed engaging with policy makers and academics in this process.
In his spare time, Ian likes walking, climbing and being in the outdoors. His main ambition in life is to take up paragliding!
