Huw Powell is headteacher of Mary Immaculate High School in Cardiff. He has worked in the education sector for 25 years, spending 12 years in senior leadership roles. He is a mentor and coach for NPQH candidates and aspiring senior leaders. Huw also founded the Church Schools Leadership Programme, which is the largest course of its kind in the UK.
As an Associate, Huw has contributed to the production, publication and dissemination of cohort 1’s commission, Our Call to Action, led on the commission roadshows and been a representative on Welsh Government committees such as the Early Years Training committee.
Huw is proud to be working with colleagues across Wales in the co-construction and development of the Leadership Academy, which he believes is something innovative and powerful for Wales. He is keen to continue to work alongside colleagues in supporting the work of the Leadership Academy across the education sector to become a beacon of excellence for leadership in Wales.
