Welsh Language Partnership Council

We’re delighted that Meleri Light, Head of Welsh Language for the National Academy for Educational Leadership, has been appointed as one of seven new members to the Welsh Language Partnership Council.

The Council was established under Section 149 of the Welsh Language Measure (Wales) 2011. The purpose of the Council is to provide guidance and advice to Welsh Ministers in relation to the Welsh language and the implementation of the Welsh language strategy.

Members will support the implementation of the Cymraeg 2050: A million Welsh speakers strategy, which aims to promote the facilitation and use of the Welsh language in every aspect of life.

Meleri will serve on the Council for the next three years and will be joined by new members: Anwen Eluned Davies, Meurig Jones, Manon Cadwaladr, Tegryn Jones, Savanna Jones and Owain Wyn.

Meleri said of her new role, “I feel very fortunate to be a member of the Welsh Language Partnership Council in order to learn and share ideas about the vision of Wales 2050. The experience so far has been extremely valuable and beneficial and I look forward to the next meetings with the Council.”
