Siân Thomas is the headteacher at Woodlands School, which is part of the Western Learning Federation. Siân’s journey as an Educational Practitioner began in Newport in a Primary School, 25 years ago. Since then, she has experienced and led many different educational settings and held a variety of roles and responsibilities. Her vision and values are the foundations for her effective leadership.
Throughout her time Siân has taught and led 3-11 year olds in mainstream and 11-19 year olds in a school with Additional Learning Needs. Her passion for education continues as she aims to ensure that all pupil’s needs are met, and that Pedagogy is at the heart of everything she does.
“I strive to develop future leaders in all practitioners by being an outstanding role model and supporting them on their learning journey as a coach and mentor.
At the heart of my pupil’s well-being is being able to support them holistically and through creative ways as they prepare for life after school. I have a philosophy to have a ‘school without walls’ meaning that we encourage and support our pupils in the wider community. This incorporates us as a School as a Learning Organisation, whilst remaining reflective, responsive and accountable.”
Siân is a keen sportsperson playing netball in a local league.
