Helen Jones is headteacher at Maesteg School in South Wales. Her school’s motto is ‘Motivated to Strive’ to encourage staff and pupils to believe that they can do anything if they set their mind to it, work hard and never give up. She has been a senior leader in Wales for 20 years and sincerely hopes that curriculum reform will achieve equity in education so that our children aspire to achieve. She is a true advocate of having a moral purpose and a passion for developing young people to achieve the very best that they can, increasing their life chances and future prospects.
Helen has always sought to develop innovative practice within schools to make teaching the exciting and rewarding career that it should be, and learning the enjoyable, irresistible and relevant experience that our children deserve. Her aspiration as an Associate of the National Academy for Educational Leadership is to listen to leaders and work in collaboration to develop outstanding leadership across Wales.
“I am looking forward to working with outstanding leaders and colleagues across Wales in my role as an Associate.”
