Join our professional learning exchange exploring ‘Leadership and Management in Education’. This engaging session will go into more details about provision endorsed by the National Academy for Educational Leadership and the impact of this provision on school leaders.

The webinar will present technical knowledge, strategic insights and practical expertise for leadership and management including strategies for developing skills and experience, improve performance, and prepare for senior management responsibilities.

This event is designed for senior leaders from schools, the youth work and post compulsory education & training sectors.

The provision:

Achieve More Training (AMT) based out of Deeside, Flintshire are a work-based learning training provider specialising in the sport, leisure, and education sectors. AMT strategically works in educational settings including primary, secondary, special education, PRU, colleges and 16+ provision across the six counties of North Wales and Powys. Our courses can be delivered bilingually and are designed and delivered by ex-practitioners from the settings. With the leadership and Management in Education Course designed and delivered by Peter Agnew (Ex Headteacher of Darland High school), Gaynor Thomas (Ex NQT mentor GWE) and Nicola Thomas (Ex Headteacher of Cornist Park primary School).

Level 5 Diploma on the Principles of Leadership and Management – This course links the theory to practice and develops application and evidence of knowledge, skills and

behaviours through a range of mandatory and optional units. This course comprises two qualifications, a diploma technical certificate taught course over two face to face sessions with two online sessions and Level 5 NVQ diploma delivered individually via visits to the learner’s workplace. Due to its status as a work-based learning programme, the two qualifications, which take 20 months to complete, are completely free of cost to learners.

Dewi Wyn Hughes

Dewi Wyn Hughes is Headteacher of Ysgol Gwynedd, a primary school of over 540 pupils located in the town of Flint, North Wales. Dewi has been teaching since 2004 and has experience of teaching in the United States. Dewi was Deputy Headteacher at the school from 2013 prior to becoming Headteacher in 2019.

Ysgol Gwynedd were fortunate to be part of the initial Pioneer school lead programme when the vision for the new curriculum was launched back in 2015. Throughout the pioneer programme Dewi worked extensively at both local consortia and national level to gauge the professional learning requirements needed to assist with the curriculum reform.

 

John Andrew Jones

John Andrew Jones is Deputy Headteacher at Ysgol Derwenfa, a role he has held since September 2022. Prior to this, he spent six years teaching at Southdown Primary School in Buckley. John is highly experienced in mentoring, serving as an ITE Mentor, External Verifier, and Internal Mentor. His current responsibilities include Curriculum for Wales Development, Teaching and Learning, Professional Learning, Mathematics and Numeracy, Health and Well-being, and Deputy Designated Safeguarding. He holds a BA Hons with QTS (First Class) from Bangor University and an MA in Primary Education (Distinction). John has also completed leadership programs and earned a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

 

Lowri Newman

Lowri Newman has over 15 years of experience teaching Welsh as a second language. She is currently Head of the Welsh Faculty and is the Cymraeg Bob Dydd co-ordinator. Lowri is also a mentor for associate teachers through the CaBan programme and provides guidance to Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). She holds a BA in Welsh and a PGCE from Aberystwyth University. Lowri has also completed the Middle Leadership Development Programme at Ysgol Eirias and holds a Level 5 Diploma and Certificate in Leadership and Management from Achieve More Training.

 

Paul Williams

Paul Williams is currently an ESW Skills Lecturer at Coleg Cambria, where he delivers courses in English, Maths, Digital Literacy, and Employability. He has been in this role since November 2022. Prior to joining the college, Paul was the KS2 Leader at St. Winefride’s Catholic Primary School in Holywell, where he was a member of the Senior Leadership Team, a teacher governor, and led Maths and Digital Learning. In his current position, he also supports curriculum development and pedagogy within his department. Paul holds a BA in Community Sport Development, a PGCE, and a Master’s in Education.
