Leading reflective practice – from evidence to effective action

Join us in this joint EWC Masterclass and National Academy for Educational Leadership Wales Leadership Unlocked event, where Carol Campbell, from the University of Glasgow, will lead a discussion on professional learning and educational improvement. As one of the authors of Leading Reflective Practice – Reviewing the Evidence, this event is the perfect opportunity to engage with colleagues across Wales about the features of, and conditions required for, effective reflective practice.

The concept and use of reflective practice is a well-established and integral part of the professional lives and development of the education workforce in Wales. By drawing on international evidence from within and outside the education sector, as well as participants’ experiences and insights, we will explore the central question of “what is needed now and next to ensure effective practice is supported and embedded in Wales?”. Leaders and leadership, at all levels, engaging in, encouraging, and ensuring support for reflective practice to benefit the education workforce, learners, and their communities, is vital to this.

Carol will be discussing the concept, features, and conditions required for effective reflective practices to support positive benefits for individuals engaging in their own reflective practice, collaborative reflective practice, and leadership of reflective practice.
The international evidence is clear, when used effectively, reflective practice can benefit professionals, learners, and educational improvements for organisations and systems. The education workforce and learners of Wales deserve no less.

This event is suitable for all senior leaders in schools, the youth work sector and post compulsory education & training sector (PCET).
