We are proud to announce that Tegwen Ellis, Chief Executive of the National Academy for Educational Leadership Wales, has been invited to present at the Compassionate Leadership Conference in Birmingham on 22 November 2024. This event is one of the first of its kind, and will explore the transformative potential of compassionate leadership in education.
As one of the featured speakers, Tegwen Ellis will join other renowned leaders, including Professor Alma Harris, Professor Emeritus at Swansea University, and Professor Michael West CBE from Lancaster University. Together, they will provide insights into how compassionate leadership can address some of the most complex challenges facing modern organisations. The event will also feature speakers from other sectors including Health and Social Care, Policing and Politics, and demonstrate how we can learn from other leaders and sectors.
Tegwen Ellis, with her extensive experience in fostering leadership in Welsh education, will share her experience of leading with compassion, inspired by the National Academy for Educational Leadership’s Insight Series publication, More than a “sticking plaster”: Understanding the demands and identifying the resources to create sustainable senior leadership in Welsh education by Dr Ali Davies (Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Employee Well-being)).
The Compassionate Leadership Conference is aimed at school leaders, MAT CEOs, and other stakeholders in education. The conference will delve into the essence of compassionate leadership —dispelling myths that it is “soft” or unstructured — and showcase its powerful impact on improving workplace culture, staff well-being, recruitment and retention.
