Current organisation details: olevi@creuddyn.conwy.sch.uk @olevicymru
The OLEVI Centre of Excellence is located at Ysgol y Creuddyn, Penrhyn Bay near Llandudno. The school in partnership with Ysgol Glan Clwyd and Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy and is accredited to deliver programmes that have been developed and produced by OLEVI International.
OLEVI’s Outstanding Leadership in Education programme (OLE) is enhancing effective leadership by providing a forum and structure in which to unpick individual schools’ needs, creating a professional audit which builds on skills to support and grow success. OLE gives delegates the opportunity and time to explore their own leadership style in a probing yet non-judgemental framework and encourages greater collaboration. The programme has attracted participants mainly in middle leadership roles in secondary schools in the north Wales area but has also included participants from primary schools and a few practitioners from special schools and pupil referral units.
We applied to the endorsement process to give our Outstanding Leadership in Education programme the opportunity to grow and extend to all middle leaders across Wales. The endorsement process was very straightforward and the application was easy to follow. The process is explained in detail on the Leadership Academy website and includes clear information regarding the submission dates. It was hard work to gather all of the appropriate evidence, however as this is a national endorsement process we knew the expectations would be high! We had plenty of support through a good discussion with the Leadership Academy before submitting the application, and communication was excellent throughout the process.
The benefits of endorsement from the Leadership Academy includes recognition on a national level for our work and programme. It was important to us as a centre to share the good name we had already established, and to be able to be part of the culture in Wales of providing high quality leadership development provision. We are considering submitting another provision that we have developed as part of the OLEVI framework in the future and are also considering applying for the innovation pathway.
“Endorsement is a great way to have recognition for the hard work you have already done by offering leadership development provision within Wales and a great opportunity to be part of the excellent work that carried out by the National Academy for Educational Leadership Wales.”
“This programme has challenged me to think about the elements I need to include for excellent teaching and learning. I particularly enjoyed the training sessions as it gave us an effective and non-direct leadership model; it was very useful to have the opportunity to practise training on each other. The programme is well structured and flexible and offers you challenge and motivation to raise your practice from good to excellent.” – Participant
