Ann Slater is a school lead youth worker for Carmarthenshire youth support service and is currently seconded to the Leadership Academy as Leadership Development and Quality Assurance Adviser – Youth and Post 16.
Ann’s role focuses on the development of the Leadership Academy’s youth and post 16 work, engaging with stakeholders and devising new experiences and opportunities to support the sector. She collaborates with educational professionals across Wales and supports on the Leadership Academy’s endorsement and quality assurance processes. Ann’s aspiration in her role is to offer practical support for leaders in youth work and post 16 settings by providing a platform for youth leaders to engage with the Leadership Academy.
Ann began her career in the chemical industries of Manchester, working in analytical laboratories. She has a BA in Informal Education at YMCA George Williams College, London and has worked in a variety of roles within the youth service in the North West of England and South Wales.
Animals are very important to Ann, she has five donkeys, a pony, a horse, a cat and a dog. She takes her donkeys on therapeutic visits to hospitals, nursing homes and hospices. Ann also keeps herself busy renovating an old farmhouse that has not been lived in for 60 years!
