Jonathan Keohane is headteacher of Roath Park Primary School in Cardiff.
Jonathan has a wealth of experience as a Senior Leader in both the Primary and Secondary phases. Jonathan has a strong distributed leadership style with has a proven track record in supporting schools through tailoring bespoke programmes of support to raise standards and improve leadership capacity at all levels. He has undertaken roles such as a School Improvement Partner, NPQH Leadership Coach, Improvement Governor, Cluster Lead and Estyn Peer Inspector. Jonathan is passionate about well-being, equality and inclusion and his current school has a rich and diverse community with over 42 ethnicities and 28 languages represented within the school community.
Jonathan has a keen interest in educational research. He has established a culture of research through action research professional learning, dedicated time for professional reading and best practice events. Jonathan has visited several countries, including Finland, Sweden, Germany and France to look at their educational systems and as a result has introduced and developed many practices at Roath Park Primary School. Jonathan is passionate about professional learning, which he considers a priority in developing the school and supporting staff wellbeing to ensure they are confident within their role.
Jonathan is driven to supporting staff well-being within his school. He has developed a highly effective well-being stakeholder group which has developed a staff well-being charter and policies to ensure staff are supported to achieve within their role.
Jonathan is married with two primary aged daughters. He lives in Newport and is enthusiastic about promoting the Welsh language and culture. He is currently learning Welsh. He has a passion for sport, travelling and food.
