Janet Waldron MBE is Executive School Leader of Ysgol Calon Cymru in Llandrindod Wells. She has experience as a Challenge Adviser for Swansea Council and as an Estyn Peer Inspector.
As an Academy Associate, Janet has contributed to a variety of projects including co-authoring the commission report Our Call to Action, leading on the commission roadshows and coaching fellow Academy Associates. The Leadership Academy has supported her personal development and professional learning in a way that she did not think was possible, offering opportunities to engage with world leaders in the field of education.
“The development of my coaching and mentoring skills has enabled me to support school leaders and teachers in their work. The outcomes have been seen in the way that they grow and now see themselves as creative and autonomous in their work and the way in which they work towards improving teaching, learning and provision.”
Janet’s dog Brian is her great friend and companion. They spend a lot of time walking in the local countryside and along the beaches. Janet’s recent pastime is gardening and growing vegetables. She was voted headteacher of the year in 2018 and received her MBE for services to education.
