Emma Coates

Associate Federation

Emma is headteacher of Llanhari Primary School in Rhondda Cynon Taf and is seconded to Central South Consortium (CSC) as the Strategic Lead for Leadership on part-time basis. Emma has worked in various schools in Wales and internationally including Trerobart Primary School and Llanilltud Faerdre Primary School in Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Ogunu School in Nigeria. Emma also has experience as a Peer Inspector.

As an Associate Emma has been involved in a variety of projects and workstreams including co-authoring Our Call to Action, leading on the commission roadshows and contributing to international events with colleagues in Education Scotland and the Centre for School Leadership, Ireland. Emma has also facilitated training for the second cohort of Associates, is a coaching programme co-ordinator and has participated in the Leadership Academy’s endorsement panel. Emma is enthusiastic to continue to create opportunities for the Associates to develop their role in the wider education system.

Emma enjoys sewing and baking and has even made a few wedding cakes! During lockdown she developed a love of gardening and now has her own mini allotment and greenhouse. She also enjoys supporting her village in her role as Community Councillor.
