Simon Roberts is headteacher of Maesybryn Primary School in Pontypridd. He has experience as an Estyn Peer Inspector and is Chair of Rhondda Cynon Taf Federation of Primary Headteachers. Simon is also a stakeholder on the new National Masters in Education qualification, working with seven higher education institutions across Wales and consulting on the additional learning needs modules.

As an Associate, Simon has undertaken endorsement training, facilitated innovation workshops, and is currently collaborating with Professor David Egan on cohort 3’s commission. Simon enjoys being part of a national body which inspires leaders and wants to support the Leadership Academy as an organisation which supports educational leaders across Wales.

“I am really looking forward to completing the work with Professor Egan and seeing that leading to an increase in research work in schools. Above all, I want to continue to work with leaders from across Wales and develop the strong relationships already made.”

Simon was born in Zambia and lived in Africa for the first three years of his life. After university he spent six months working in French Guiana where his flat overlooked Devil’s Island. His French is still passable but restricted to holidays in France each year. Simon is also a keen runner and spends many weekends officiating for Welsh Athletics.
